FRANK SHILLING MAGICIAN OF THE YEAR ANNOUNCED
The Tennessee Magical Society is Assembly #271 of the
Society of American Magicians (S.A.M.) which was founded on May 10, 1902
in Martinka's famous magic shop in New York City, New York, is the oldest
and most prestigious magical society in the world. The Tennessee Magical
Society and the S.A.M. offers the opportunity to unite and associate with
leaders in the World of Magic - not only professionals, but with amateurs,
manufacturers, magic dealers, book authors and magic collectors. Devon is the son of Greg and Tammy Owens and attends
4th grade at Northside Elementary School in Smithville.
Devon’s proud dad said, "As long as magic encourages him to stick
his nose in a book and learn something, I'm game. He sometimes picks up
magic books that are designed for adults and does his best to read through
the big words to get the gist of the trick.” The Local Magician of the Year award is based on
being the most improved magician for the year. Devon started his magical
journey only a year ago, and is according to his parents is completely
hooked. T.M.S. Vice President Roger Reeves says, “"If he keeps at
it there'll be no stopping him" Devon has worked really hard, and it
shows". Devon’s dad said, “as long as he keeps up his grades in
school, he can run pretty much where he wants with his magic and I’ll
certainly try to follow”. You can read more about Devon, The Tennessee Magical
Society and the Society of American Magicians at the T.M.S. web site at http://www.tnmagic.org. Devon’s dad said “I told him one time that he was doing really well and that he could buy me a BIG HOUSE when he gets famous.” Devon said "You can come see me in Vegas". “A day doesn't go by that I don’t laugh at him about something. He's a sharp kid...and funny to boot…We're real proud of him" |
