FANTASY AND ILLUSION FEATURE ARTIST
Jason Michaels will be performing at the Fantasy and
Illusion show on July 29th at the Cookeville Drama Center. Read more
about Jason below.

"If you want to be blown away, you need to see
Jason! Think David Copperfield and David Blaine all in one." Dana
Sims, Event Coordinator - Nashville, TN
Audience responses such as the one above are the reason Jason
Michaels has established himself as one of today’s premier
entertainers. With an unorthodox vision of magic’s power as theater;
his unmatched ability to engage and interact with his audience; and an
intense, focused stage presence, Jason continues his rapid ascent to the
pinnacle of the entertainment world. Known for a slight edginess and an
intense energy, Jason creates magical illusions that will make you
laugh, cry, cringe, reflect, and question, at times, your own
understanding of reality.
But the hackneyed term “magician” simply isn’t sufficient to
describe Jason Michaels. Jason creates an unforgettable theatrical
experience far beyond the scope of the traditional “magic show.”
While he makes excellent use of magic techniques, Jason also draws from
his solid acting background to create original, compelling, and often
uproarious characters that add remarkable depth to his performances. As
in most great theater, Jason and his alter egos create at times
uncontrollable laughter and, at other times, tense, gripping suspense
that forces you to the very edge of your seat.
Two unrelated events set Jason on his current journey. One, a chance
audition for a theatrical production netted Jason the lead role in the
show and began a passionate love affair with the theatre. Second, a
fateful meeting with a magician opened Jason’s eyes to the power of
performing the impossible.
Jason spent his college years focused on the study of theatre and
honing his performance skills. Magic remained merely a hobby for many
years until the opportunity arose to study and work with Brett Daniels,
one of today’s premier illusionists. Daniels was a major influence on
Jason’s “post-graduate work” in the field of stage magic and
illusion. Jason also had the opportunity to work with other masters of
stage illusion, The Pendragons and The Hamners.
When Jason abandoned the “safety net” of working for other
magicians, he employed his razor-sharp card technique to create lasting
impressions on those fortunate enough to see him in live performances.
Featured on several television programs, Jason’s playful style of
“street” magic continues to amaze audiences with dazzling feats of
visual poetry using coins and cards and mind-numbing thought reading
with only your mind as his playground.
While performing his close-up shows of “intimate impossibilities”
for both private and corporate clients, Jason developed his own
high-energy stage show, “Illusion: The Many Faces of Jason
Michaels,” a “magic show” unlike any seen before. Jason and his
stage show have been compared favorably by his magical contemporaries to
the early style of David Copperfield. “Illusion: The Many Faces of
Jason Michaels” continues to entertain and enthrall audiences with
magical performance pieces that energize the stage, warp the mind, warm
the heart, reflect on the fragility of life, and poke good-natured fun
at the human condition.
Whether performing a high-energy illusion show, intimate street
magic, theatrical magic with an artistic flair, or recreating
Houdini’s Underwater Torture Cell, Jason Michaels is at home in any
venue, on any stage. Shakespeare proclaimed, “All the world’s a
stage.” Jason agrees and is determined to use every stage he’s given
to make a lasting impact on all who experience the magic and many faces
of Jason Michaels.
